On Monday, June 2, 2014, Apple announced its brand new programming language, Swift. Normally, I would think to myself, “Cool! Can’t wait to see what people do with that.” Normally, I wouldn’t be smack-dab-in-the-middle of creating curriculum for two new programming courses. But, since the only constant is change in my world, here I am in the middle of abnormal, and I’m ready to get started!
As you are likely well aware of by now, Swift is a “new programming language for iOS and OS X apps.” Apparently, Apple has been working on Swift for years, layout a foundation for the language and its adoption through recent advancements in the compiler, debugger, and framework infrastructure. They’ve been at it for a while and are now ready to release Swift to the masses.
Stay tuned to this page for more Swift programming language updates as I explore this language more. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments and I will respond as I am able. Thanks for reading!
